Fast Lane! Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 This is the number one support ticket I get. We are a large site and this takes time. I'd like the option to have it clear their profile and personal data but keep their posts (just make their user name set to something random).

Sounds reasonable, doesn’t it? But you can read the CEO’s answer here. In short: Quote if I don't want to use a site anymore, I just... stop using it.

In short: EU laws aside, I've found that anonymized old posts is all most people want to do. The issue is that years later many folks wish they didn't post something or want to clear their digital footprint. Making the old account anonymized meets that need but retains the content on the site which keeps the community whole.
