Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Barlee Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Hi All, Is it possible to change what image is used when sharing to Facebook, we want to share a lot of stuff and it is always going to be the same image, how do we alter the image? Thanks in advance
Barlee Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 When we create new topic we want to then share it to facebook to generate traffic to our forum. It would be ideal if each share had the ability to have a different image, or even no image at all if that is not possible
opentype Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 You need to ask Facebook about that. It’s their sharer dialogue window. Your only choice is to set a sharer image in your theme settings, which will then be suggested to Facebook for forum topics. If you don’t set one, Facebook will choose the image – but that might also be an avatar image, emoticon and whatnot.
Apfelstrudel Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 I know what you mean and I agree with you. As soon as you add a sharer logo in ipb acp it ALWAYS takes this Logo and adds the og:image tag. It would be better to use images from the posts like it is if you haven't added a sharer logo.
Heyhoe Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Surely this should default back to the share image if no images are found, rather than defaulting to this for every type of content shared? I've deleted my sharer image.
Apfelstrudel Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Me too. Makes no sense to have always the same sharer logo even if good images already exist in the topic.
