For what it's worth, 15,000 page views a day averages out to around one view every five seconds. Any server that can't handle that has much bigger problems. You should go with the configuration that you find most familiar and is the easiest to administrate so you can more easily handle problems as they pop up and save worrying about performance gains for later when it's a real issue.

It depends on your need, but generals nginx + php-fpm is faster and lighter than apache with mod_php.

true, also using nginx as proxy for apache gives you all apache config benefits keeping high performance

Any guide to configure nginx and proxy with IPS?

Another question, I admin (not mine) another old forum running with IPB 3.4, with really low activity. We are deciding wether to update or to close it. But I want to know if IPB 3.4 supports MySQL 5.6.2 version.

NeoWin is a massive community, been around years! Not sure if it's helpful but nice to see they're still using IPB.
