Any server that can't handle that has much bigger problems. You should go with the configuration that you find most familiar and is the easiest to administrate so you can more easily handle problems as they pop up and save worrying about performance gains for later when it's a real issue.

Another question, I admin (not mine) another old forum running with IPB 3.4, with really low activity. We are deciding wether to update or to close it. But I want to know if IPB 3.4 supports MySQL 5.6.2 version.
