Hi,

My forum has the warning on it "Version 4.1.12.1 of the IPS Community Suite is now available. This includes a security patch and we recommend you upgrade as soon as possible."

So I go to do the upgrade and read this "

Warning

This release does not support PHP 5.4 as it is end of life and no longer supported by PHP. If you are running PHP 5.4 do not upgrade and ask your web host to update to a supported version of PHP.

So I go into my hosting and change the PHP version to PHP 5.6.21 version

Go to do the upgrade and get this page

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@xxxxxx.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Are you sure its 'changed' to 5.6.21

Ask your host for the appropriate error logs (the apache logs) tell them you have an ISE (500 error) , the logs will hopefully explain why its thrown this particular error. ^_^

So here's what my hosting guys say

We checked with our System Administrators and we can upgrade the MySQL service to 5.6. However, please note that there would be some downtime which should not be more than 30 minutes though.

As to the cURL PHP, it's a bit more complicated. What we could do is install hive and run PHPs with hive, which has php 5.6; however, the cURL version will still be 7.30.

Alternatively, we can disable hive (as well as 1h fast fcgi PHP), and you can use the default server PHP, which we could upgrade to 5.6 and compile it with a newer cURL PHP.

Please let us know how we should proceed.

For your convenience, I am leaving the ticket in ARC (Awaiting Reply from the Customer) status and will be looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,

I'm unsure what the best option is here

Spoke to my hosting people as I have two versions of invision forums on there (one the 4.x and the other is 3.x)

I asked if they could just upgrade one of the domains/forums versions but they replied:

The hive allows you to run several PHP versions on one server. Without it, there is only one PHP version installed on the server.

In your case, we will update the PHP to 5.6 and it will be valid for all accounts on the server.
