Can we restrict a user group sending private messages?

I would like to restrict my basic member group from sending any pms. Is this possible at all?  It might be good though that admin can send them a pm and they can respond to that only.

Thanks if you can help

That's odd it should show there between Profiles and Reputation.

Have you disabled the messenger completely for this group ?

One quick check: System > Site Features > Applications > Click 'System' in the listing to expand it. Find 'Messages' in the expanded list. Click the 'padlock' icon on the right of Messages to see its permissions. Just ensure that this "Basic Member" group does have permission to use the messenger as if this is disabled here its likely to not show at all for that group when you edit its group settings. ^_^

If you wan them to receive PMs, from other members, mods, admin, you need it on. Up to you.

If you want them to only receive admin PMs

Conversation storage quota: 0

Then for admin:
Override recipients' storage quota? On
If enabled, members in this group will be able to send messages to other members even if the recipient has reached their maximum number of stored messages.

Yes, they can reply, as the conversation was started already.

Strangely 0 is not saving, it must be the number 1, I am going to bring that up in the tracker as you need to be able to set to 0 for some of these, like for members to receive but not send, and to restrict to admin, as posted.

OH your'e right!  I just checked back and 0 has reverted back to unlimited
