Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
ehren. Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I have recently been contacted by a customer of mine who bought a theme from my site. The customer is on the IPS cloud servers and recently had issues trying to install my theme, likely due to it's file size of 782kb (the theme contains numerous images). I've been told they were denied support via IPS, and were instructed to contact me instead. Their issue is as follows: I am using cloud hosting by invision power services, and I am unable to install the theme. When I put xml file and click Next, it starts processing. But it is processing for 1 minute, then I get Connection timed out error. I have tried installing another theme and it installed it in 5 seconds. But that theme was 30KB, and the Animate theme is almost 800KB. I wrote a support ticket to IPS and they said that I must contact you. http://prntscr.com/7qlj6z Some of my themes exceed 1MB in file size due to additional theme resources. I can't reduce the file size unless I remove images from my themes and tell all of my customers to manually add the files themselves, which is less than ideal. All other customers have been able to install my themes without any issues - it has only happened with this customer on the IPS Cloud Server. Since the customer was unable to receive support via IPS, I figured I'd post here and ask for suggestions - or request that the file size restriction is increased, allowing IPS Cloud customers to enjoy "detailed themes" like all of my other clients.
Tom Christian Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I've seen this in a few other posts as well. That is unusual that they were denied support. 1 mb seems far too little.

Not sure why the limit are like that, but they are bad and considering that users have 2gb+ of space minimum it's really weird. The theme you're supposed to create for me will most likely break 800kb because it's a combination of Animate and Chameleon Dark.So hopefully IPS addresses this issue.
DesignzShop Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Already suggested this months ago, hopefully with others chiming in here it will be looked at. Filed a bug report on it, Matt replied and gave a answer as to why it's like that. This issue is for everyone, not just hosted IPB but self hosted also.
Rhett Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I would recommend filing a ticket on this with the theme file supplied for testing and we can review this, with a quick look at this topic this may be a bug here causing this. Please provide a link to this topic for clarification as well so we have all the information.
Rhett Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Thanks for the ticket, for info, in testing this, it imported within 10 seconds and installed normally without issue.
ehren. Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Thanks for helping Rhett. Strange that it worked for you but not for my customer since you won't be able to narrow down the cause of the issue, but I'm glad it's been installed regardless.
Rhett Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 You're very welcome, I was expecting it to not work to be honest based on your post above, and we were ready to dig into it.... but by surprise it worked and tricked us. lol

Rhett Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Wait...isn't this a bad thing in terms of reproducing the bug or is this being put down to "user error" ? Neither no error at this point as we are not able to duplicate any issues.
