Joel R Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 For micro galleries where each photo is individually curated, IP.Gallery is fine. But for large-scale galleries with hundreds or thousands of photos, the current process of adding information to every photo is too time-consuming. Nobody has time to add the same tags and the same description and the same copyright and the same credits to every photo. - During initial image uploading, add option to add same information across every image.- After image uploaded, add options to mass edit same information across every image.
Tripp★ Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 - After image uploaded, add options to mass edit same information across every image. Yes. Including tags.

He's totally correct. Sometimes I wonder why IPS is even in the gallery business because it's only a fair product, not a very good or outstanding one. If this was a stand alone product, it couldn't stand on its own merits. I've been hoping for a killer gallery from IPS for years now though.

jackflash Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Yes, mass edit tags. Killer gallery please!I would really, really hope such. When IP Gallery is strong enough that people will buy it as a stand alone product, you'll know that it's a solid product. I believe that a lot of use it because it's the only game in town. That's a bad thing in a sense because it may discourage people from using IPB in general.

This is one of the philosophical problems that I have with their development style: they put a heavy emphasis on IP.Board and IP.Commerce, but they have very middling products in IP.Gallery or IP.Blogs. There's a major disparity between feature richness and depth amongst the applications. What drives me crazy is they add in nice features like a "grid" layout and custom forum icons in IP.Board, yet they don't think about extending those features to the rest of the suite.

Totally agree - the blog and gallery applications are just "kinda there" but not in a serious way. My sites that seriously use a blog/forum or gallery/forum format unfortunately do not run on IPS software. Sadly.
