Is it possible to run the entire website under SSL, with the 4.0 ?

Yes.

You will need to set your main URL as https://yourdomain.com, set all your storage settings so that the URL uses ambiguous protocol (for good measure) e.g. //yourdomain.com/uploads and finally add a .htaccess so that you redirect http requests to https.

If you already have your forum setup on 4.0, you'll need to run our URL changer to tool: http://community.invisionpower.com/4docs/system-management/change-your-url-r96/

Hello Jim M, thank you for your reply.

In fact, I'm creating a totally new website, I have deleted the old one and the new one will begin from zero. So it will be simple to set up, I think.
Precisely, when the board is uploaded (with css, the gallery and IP.dowload), and the setting completed. What do I do ?

1) You will need to set your main URL as https://yourdomain.com

I change the main URL in the initdata.php ? (or conf_global.php I don't remember).

2) set all your storage settings so that the URL uses ambiguous protocol (for good measure) e.g. //yourdomain.com/uploads

I don't understand that. Is it something to do in the admin, or in the FTP ?

3) finally add a .htaccess so that you redirect http requests to https.

Do I need to do that, since the website is now empty ?

4) If you already have your forum setup on 4.0, you'll need to run our URL changer to tool: http://community.invisionpower.com/4docs/system-management/change-your-url-r96/

Same question.

@Jim M

This tool is not available anymore from the url you left. Do we need to still run this tool?

Thank You

No. As of 4.0.5, there have been significant changes to the storage architecture that makes the linked tool obsolete.

I would assume then that all we need to do is change config_global to https in the site url however, I see now a secure site reading non-secure. Am I missing a setting somewhere. Pretty slick so far how easy that was though.

Thanks

Use the support tool in the ACP to drop the cache after changing it to https:// in conf_global.php.

My site is running entirely as https and so far so good.
