Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
statusjpn Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 hey guys, just set up my new IP board, everything works and looks ace at the moment. there's only 1 thing i can't seem to figure out. i have this forum hosted on a dedicated server with 10mbps bandwidth (dedicated), going from page to page is lightning fast, load times of under 0.01s. BUT, when i start/create a new topic, the next page that is supposed to show up (the new thread page) will take more 10-20s to load, even though the load time at the bottom shows as 0.01s, etc.. everything else is blazing fast.. anyone have any thoughts?
Chetan105 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I have had the same issue , so Far IPB has insisted its due to My hosting , which i strongly believe its not , because when i was on 3.3.2 I didn't see this issue when i upgraded to 3.3.3 it showed up. Please go through this : http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/362947-posting-new-topic-response-is-very-slow/
statusjpn Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 probably not hosting. i have a few IPB installations which are all working fine and blazingly fast. only this ONE site is acting up, not sure why..
statusjpn Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 fixed it, was indeed IP.SEO.. removed the 3 URLs in the ping list and it's all good now. <removed> http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ http://api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2 http://api.moreover.com/ping </removed> hope this will help others who face the same problem..
Rhett Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 fixed it, was indeed IP.SEO.. removed the 3 URLs in the ping list and it's all good now. <removed>http://rpc.pingomatic.com/http://api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2http://api.moreover.com/ping </removed> hope this will help others who face the same problem.. the ping service having bad, slow, or too many entries is the cause for slow topics to be posted about 99% of the time. I have seen a few people have over 150 entries on that list wondering why it's taking a long time lol. Glad you found it. :)
statusjpn Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 hi Rhett, thanks for your reply. might want to point out that i have other sites running on IPB as well, same version/release, same 3 ping services, but they are not facing any lag when creating a new thread. it's only this ONE site that is acting up. makes you wonder eh? anyway, i'm glad i got it sorted..
Chetan105 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 i Continue to have slow loading times and it as statusjpn mentioned its perticular to this one forum , other forums dont / are not effected . I have Ping services removed. The issue still shows. Checked in Performance mode - Issue still shows. Changed DB tp another server - Issue still shows. Is there a way to restore all IPB settings to default and check ?
Rhett Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Is this site on a shared host? I would inquire with your host and let them know you are having performance issue, it may not be related to your site at all.
Chetan105 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Its Shared hosting , but the other forum on the same host works absolutely fine .....
Chetan105 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Also on the TEST BOARD using a Backup DB of the Site. Disabled All notifications and reset all member_cache and re cached - issue still seen. The only way to NOT have this issue to show up is if I disable Read access to Members Group.
Rhett Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Its Shared hosting , but the other forum on the same host works absolutely fine ..... Is the other forum on the same server as well?
Depotoir Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I'm having the same problem since I have upgraded to 3.4. The board was running slow first. Then I turned off the ''page view marquee'' (or whatever). It was set to ''each page loads''. The board is freaking fast now. BUT the creating of new topics still takes quite some time. Around 20-45 sec. Sometimes I have to close the page... it is not loading. But the topic has been created. My users are impatient so they click twice on the button so we received double or triple topics. I removed the three lines from the ''ping services'' thing. Doesn't work. My board is hosted on a VPS. Everything was good untill the update... I need help!
Depotoir Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I found it. Email notifications was sent to all my members at creation of new topics. 8000+ members.
Dmacleo Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 wow I never would have thought to look there, good find.
Dmacleo Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I am curious, how did you find that? just trial/error and luck or were you able to trace somehow hen posting?
Depotoir Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Trial and error. I though about everything that was going on when creating a new topic. And my inbox was filled with mailing errors.
Dmacleo Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 makes sense, someone else was mentioning post issues/server load...wonder if same issue.
