Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Fishfish0001 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Try just PM'ing a staff member next time instead of making a public topic about it?
Robulosity2 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Does it really matter... it is their board they did it on
TheSidewinder Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Is that your Facebook or Twitter avatar? If so, it's a bug that you can't remove it.
Mark Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 There's not even an option in IPB to revoke an individual member's ability to change their avatar ;)
bfarber Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 As far as I am aware, no one has removed your avatar changing ability (as Mark pointed out, you cannot do this at an individual member level anyways). If you imported a Twitter avatar, there is a bug that is likely preventing you from changing your avatar.
Jυra Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 I upload an avatar, it shows in the panel where you edit or remove avatars. View the forum and it shows the old one even when I switch to browsers I don't even use. Account isn't connected to my Twitter. My current avatar is my Gravatar, but that's the only time I can change it, so it's either my old one or my Gravatar.
Mark H. Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Gravatar.... that rings a bell. Yup, thought so. http://community.invisionpower.com/tracker/issue-24819-cant-remove-gravatar/
Jυra Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Yes, but when I upload a new avatar it'll show the previous one. Works fine on my forum.
Fishfish0001 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 What are you trying to change it to (like a link o the image). Are you positive you aren't changing the profile picture?
Jυra Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 ?_time=1297476644 Is what shows in my avatar setting page, but is not the avatar that shows on my end which I just tried to change right now.
Jυra Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Someone from IPS is screwing with my account and is getting a laugh from this.
Mat Barrie Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Someone from IPS is screwing with my account and is getting a laugh from this. Yes, I'm sure they have nothing better to do than screw with your account so they can laugh at you. Or, putting aside the tin-foil hat conspiracy theory for a moment, it could be a bug. Perhaps even one of the 3 or so quoted at you already.
Guest Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Actually, I'd hazard a guess that it's our CDN, which quite vigorously caches images, etc. on our forums. It can take a day or two for such changes to be picked up in certain circumstances. We do indeed have better things to do than mess around with customer accounts. :)
