Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
tenaki Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I think we need a new menu system, now all these apps are coming along I am running out of room and if I change my screen resolution I can't see all of them, it stops at Pages Home Forums Members Downloads Gallery Celendar Blogs Pages Chat Store are the main ones I also have classifieds and Garage
Warzone Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 If ya move the search "thingy" , u'll get all the links up there :P i think :P
optrexnz Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 my sig contains a link to a menu modification via a blog edit: to make it clearer my sig contains a link to a menu modification at the bottom of the blog article. or you can go directly to the menu modification http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/3613-fusion-menu/
Stars25 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 They don't want to add more links to the navigation menu, they want to have a new menu/remove the search so there is more space.
optrexnz Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 They don't want to add more links to the navigation menu, they want to have a new menu/remove the search so there is more space. I know that, which is why I directed them to a link to a menu modification via my blog
Fishfish0001 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I don't see how that modification fixes any of the problems originally mentioned? Its just for adding new links as far as I can tell, not creating a drop down or anything.
optrexnz Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 ffs, for those who have difficulty when it comes to reading - at the bottom of the article is says If you don't mind paying then there is a menu modification at http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/3613-fusion-menu/
.Ian Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 ffs, for those who have difficulty when it comes to reading - at the bottom of the article is says If you don't mind paying then there is a menu modification at http://community.inv...13-fusion-menu/ The code for that is posted on the forums - it was released by Charles and allowed to be used by any sites. I believe IPS have said that this is being looked at with 3.2 as many sites have run out of space.
Michael Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Maybe instead of directing people to another page and then asking them to read to the bottom of that article, you could have just posted the link to the resource? Would have saved a few posts back and forth and some frustration.

HI Michael, Yeas you are quite correct, I just assumed that as everyone on here is an admin of a board that they would be able to follow a link. My bad. Sorry

Yeas you are quite correct, I just assumed that as everyone on here is an admin of a board that they would be able to follow a link. My bad. Quite the assumption considering you said that the link in your signature would help fix the problem, when you should have just linked to the mod, or said that at the bottom there were links to it. Assuming that because someone is an admin of a board that they will know how to do something has to be the most bullfaeces thing I have ever heard.
tenaki Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 No fighting guys I just thought IPS could review the current menu system. I am able to hack it about but out of the box it would be good to have a nice menu, maybe even a new hook for the side column?
tenaki Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Just looking at analytics and the 3 most popular browser resolutions for my visitors are 1280x800 1024x768 1366x768 So most of my visitors can only see the first 8 menu items the other 3 are invisible to them

I would always work to 1024.
Warzone Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 make a drop down at the end: like, 3-4 links and the 5th a drop down to more links?
