Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Feneroin Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 As you have created a blog entry about 3.2 Can a dev reply me please...?
Jaggi Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I think it's worded a bit wrong. Are you asking if IPB will make use of php 5.3 functionality? therefore making the minimum version required 5.3? I would say they probably aren't going to do any major sweeping changes to the framework at this point and for small enhancements not needed it wouldn't be worth causing a bit of extra bother (although you should be on php 5.3 by now). Maybe in IPB 4.0 or a point release down the line...
bfarber Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 We have not officially made any decisions about PHP 5.1.x support. IP.Board 3.1.x supports PHP 5.1.x and it is unlikely that we will raise the minimum version for 3.2 at this point, but I can't say for sure yet. If at some point we raise the minimum PHP version, we will let everyone know then. What you are asking is something we can't answer yet (because we don't know yet).
Feneroin Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 I think it's worded a bit wrong. Are you asking if IPB will make use of php 5.3 functionality? Non 5.1.x Because i have PHP 5.1.6 installed on my server and i don't know upgrade the php so i can't upgraded to 5.2 or 5.3 if IPB 3.2 will require at least 5.2, so i can't upgrade to IPB 3.2 also for that moment...

IPB 3.2 won't be out for a while yet and support for PHP 5.1 and 5.2 has been discontinued (by PHP guys) so it is recommended you update to 5.3.

Thats maddening. I'm still on 5.2.16 I think, and the short period I used 5.3.x was just buggy and annoying.
