Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
RainbowGirl Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I'm not sure IPB have this feature, because I remember asking the sales department months back before joining IPB, they said they will look into it. Any update guys? Its important for admins to access and reply post via email especially when replying something complex like product price quotations.

When the competition invents it.
Olivier Turbis Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Erm. I don't agree. A forum is a forum. People need to go to the forum itself in my opinion.

I don't know why would we want to rely on VBulletin to start the features first and if I'm not mistaken they have that features already.

Ikadon Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Personally I don't know any forums-software that has that feature, and I don't see any real benefit from it. If I want to reply to a certain topic I can do this by visiting said topic. If it's in a section I watch I already know that it is new by the time it is posted. Also, I guess this would be a "not-that-easy-to-program"-feature, but that only comes from the mouth of a hobby-programer, so don't bet on it.
TrekkiemonsterUK Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 It's nice to see that Invision's support tickets notifications now allow you to reply via email, so I hope that this feature will be introduced into the IPB in the near future (if it isnt already and I'm not missing a setting somewhere that activates it. :D )
jgriggs Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 We are on the hosted Invision services. How can I add this feature to my message boards? I'm trying to integrate a listserv where the board emails to the listserv, and the listserv can post to the board. Is IP.Nexus the answer? Please need help on this. thanks.
rgf100 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 My problem with this would be that you can't be sure the replier has read *all* the earlier replies. Maybe they only get one notification per visit for that topic, maybe they've got all the notifications, but fire off a response to the first email they see. I think this is useful for one-to-one conversations like tickets and maybe pm's, but not so much forum posting. Not completely opposed to it, but I can see it causing a lot of repetitive posts.
Biker.GA Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I've often wished for this feature so members who are at work and get an email notification can respond via email as well, especially for those in environments where the business has blocked forum access.
jgriggs Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Has anyone implemented something like this on IPB?
Management Charles Posted September 20, 2011 Management Posted September 20, 2011 We do not currently have an email reply feature.
connorhawke Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 This would be a neat and useful feature. IP Nexus has this feature already. The rest? When the competition invents it. If IP.Nexus has it already, surely it cannot be too difficult to adapt this to IP.Board? And what the hell do you mean by "when the competition invents it"?
Misi Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 And what the hell do you mean by "when the competition invents it"? When Vbulletin,Xenforo wakes up, invents it and start using it. The loss of a few hundred renewals will wake up Invision as well.
