Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
bonesoul Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 In last days i see a lot of vb users converting (including myself) to IPB. When i was first planning the conversion, i checked for existing vb-converts to see if they're able to move their data and so. So for future converts and people in decision for a conversion, let's list the sites that moved from vb to IPB. Let me start with ones i know.http://www.dvoturk.com - My own Turkish MMORPG site, moved from vb 4.0.2 http://worldofraids.com/ - Curse Network site, moved from vb. http://aionsource.com/ - Curse Network site, moved form vb. http://otakii.com/ - moved from 4.0.2.
GodForum.com Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 very nice sites - congratulations on your upgrade to IPB :)
Nityananda Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 http://www.husky-owners.com - Siberian Husky owners forum, moved from VB
Booth Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 http://www.pleasedsheep.com > moved from VB 3.8 http://www.roversweb.co.uk > moved from VB 4.0
A Walk in Faith Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 A plain Jane compared to you all's sites, but... http://www.awalkinfaith.org converted from vB 4.0 One of the things that struck me the most during my conversion was how easy it was to keep all my existing links I had in Google. After the conversion, copied over four or five files to my root directory, put two lines in my .htaccess file and all my old links pointing to my old (now deleted) vB install seemlessly flowed to my new IPB install and pointed to the correct topic/thread! Simply Amazing!!! Jamie
Collin1000 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/304977-ex-vb-users-how-you-finding-ipb/ has a big list too.

Icy Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I converted a couple more and since have combined a few sites. The next to be converted will be http://www.resource-zone.com/forum Hey I need an advice from you. My current vB is in /forum directory. But I want it on / after conversion. Anything I should do that for? I'm currently using vBSEO as well. I've tried conversion several times on test environment. It was really easy. But I'm kind of confused about the vBSeo enhanced old URL to IPB SEO new URL redirection.
T.S. Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I'm kindly confused about the vBseo enhanced old URL to IPB SEO new URL redirection. vBSEO URL to old vBulletin URL rewrite code can be found here..... http://www.vbseo.com/blogs/mert-goekceimam/how-uninstall-vbseo-238/ Old vBulletin URLs will then be forwarded to IPB URLs using some files that are packaged with vBulletin to IPB converter.
Icy Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 The link you gave me provide only show thread redirection. Anyway the support staff here assured me that IPB converters can take care of the vBSEO enhanced URL structure. Since AWS used vBSEO so I guess I should wait for his opinion.

Glad to see you got the name you wanted. :) As you have discovered, within reason the staff are willing to do whatever it takes to help someone convert an existing community to IPB. :)
Mister.T Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Not yet, going live with 3.1... Same i'm waiting for 3.1
Aggiefans.com Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 http://www.aggiefans.com moved over yesterday.... just the forums so far. Going to start a homepage (using converge) in a few weeks once we get used to ipb.
Mike Anime Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Anime Realm Z is live now. i just have the chat to get up and running.
Brunlea Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Moved my site from vB4 to IPB. Forum for talking about the town I live in: www.burnleyweb.com The move was the best thing I ever did. If I get the chance, and some other projects take off, I can see them becoming IPB forums too
