Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
THE RED DRAGON Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I am new here and I think this is a great site with a ton of helpful people and topics. The only issue I have had so far when searching for content is ensuring that what I am searching for is compatible with my current board. For instance it would be great if somehow (Example) on the Community Downloads section if when devs uploaded files that they could select 2.X or 3.X and then users could search for only the content they are looking for. Just a friendly suggestion to help sort the library of information here. Thanks
Connor T Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 2.3.x is almost beyond obsolete. It might be helpful in the next months, but soon only people that cannot upgrade will be using IPB 3, thus little people using it. I see what you mean, but its a dying cause since there are less 2.3.x users every week.
skinbydragonfly Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I have to say I also find it very difficult finding things in the downloads section in particular, sometimes I will read about a mod and then have real problems trying to find it, often the links in the blogs or posts are just to the overall Downloads section, not the specific mod in question... I searched for "blank hook" the other day and it did not come up in search results at all.

Yeah I have 3.05 and when searching the downloads section - I kept finding mods that I wanted, but they were for only 2.3. It would be much easier to narrow the search for only 3.x and up

Management Charles Posted April 22, 2010 Management Posted April 22, 2010 We are doing some organizational improvements when 3.1 is released so hopefully we can make things better.
rbiss Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Blank sidebar hook > http://community.inv...k-sidebar-hook/ :) I use it for openx ads, but since upgrading openx the sidebar hook doesn't work for it. I see it hasn't been upgraded since July 2009. The author might want to take a look at it.

Nityananda Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Gotta say I've always wondered why the versions are not split into subforums as it would make it a lot more user friendly
Steve H Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 What versions? 2x and 3x? Since 2x support will soon be discontinued I doubt it is going to be an issue. If you were meaning sub versions 3.0.1 or 3.0 and 3.1. Too many forums is never a good thing.
