Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
sunrisecc Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I have now added PM notifications as well as email notifications for new topics etc. Since it appears that I do get PM notices, I want to see if that portion works.
sunrisecc Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Adding PM notifications made no difference. Now I am trying PM only for new topic etc.
broni Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I also cleared FF cache, deleted Invision cookies, which were reset on my next login, logged out, logged in.....I have no idea what else can be done....
sunrisecc Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I too, have done all of the above. Nothing helps. I have now set my notifications to inline only since I did not get any notification of your reply via PM.
sunrisecc Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Further update. I set my alternate account to immediate notifications and it worked like a charm. This account I have reverted the settings as per originally set. Inline did not work either. Must be account-related.
Abomination Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Must be account-related. Based on my own experiments, I believe that could be the case. We are renting a hosted community and am not a contributor, and what I see is different from people with contributor badges (for instance).
sunrisecc Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Based on my own experiments, I believe that could be the case. We are renting a hosted community and am not a contributor, and what I see is different from people with contributor badges (for instance). That is a different matter. What is being discussed is email notifications which worked prior to the preview. So far the problem is affecting at least three members. Access to forums is not the same Alyernates do not have access to the Lounge etc.
Management Matt Posted March 27, 2010 Management Posted March 27, 2010 Thanks, so to clarify, immediate notification is OK, but delayed / digest isn't being sent. Sounds like a bug. I'll investigate Monday. Sphinx is running the delta indexes again, so VNC and Active Content should now return results.
sunrisecc Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 @Matt: Not quite. I use immediate notifications exclusively. They are working at my alternate account 'sunrisecc1'. They do not work for my account 'sunrisecc'. In addition, changing to PM or Inbox notification had no effect. I do receive notifications about PMs and also if one of my posts was quoted. Tracker is working fine. Hence to track this topic, I am using the notifications set by my alternate's account. It is better than no notification.
Management Matt Posted March 27, 2010 Management Posted March 27, 2010 Well, that's odd. Is your email being routed by IPS also?
broni Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I tried immediate and delayed. Neither one works. I had to bookmark this thread to check it manually once in a while.
broni Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 VNC and Active Content should now return results. Not here. Some results are shown, but the latest post in "Today's content" is from Yesterday, 07:06 PM
sunrisecc Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Well, that's odd. Is your email being routed by IPS also? Yes, I am hosted by Invision. However my alternate is on the same domain as I am and his notification works.
3DKiwi Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 PM notifications by email have been working fine for me and I've had a couple sine the upgrade here to 3.1. What's not working for me is: View New Content, Mark Board as Read and Today's Active Content. 3DKiwi
sunrisecc Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 PM Notificatiions are not the problem. You are correct that they are working since the upgrade. What is not working for at least three of us is the notifications of new topics/replies. This was marked as Cannot Reproduce in the tracker when I reported it. Your other topics have been acknowledged in the tracker and elsewhere.
Broni1 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Just created a new profile to see, if it'll work, so someone please reply. I'd like to see, if email notification will work in my new profile.
Broni1 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Thanks :) Still same crap. I just checked here manually. I give up.
sunrisecc Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Matt stated that he will work on this problem on Monday. That is good enough for me.
Management Matt Posted March 29, 2010 Management Posted March 29, 2010 If it's a global problem, then it will affect everyone. I appreciate the testing. I am investigating the issue now.
Management Matt Posted March 29, 2010 Management Posted March 29, 2010 It appears fine in testing. I shall perform some debugging later on this board. As a side note, have you checked your spam filters / junk folders? We changed the outgoing email address for the board when we upgraded so any whitelists you have will no longer work.
sunrisecc Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I have added invisionpower.com to my whitelist to no avail. The alternate account uses the same domain and hence rules in CPanel as my address. I am getting the notifications for the alternate account. I have checked my junk mail folder and there is nothing. The mail for my alternate contact and the mail for me both are picked up via the same computer and program. I do get the tracker notifications and also from the company blog.
Management Matt Posted March 29, 2010 Management Posted March 29, 2010 Hello, I took a look in our DB and it seems that you have notifications set to 'inline' for topic and reply notifications: ( [selected] => Array ( [0] => inline ) ) [new_reply] => Array ( [selected] => Array ( [0] => inline ) ) [new_topic] => Array Can you go here: http://community.invisionpower.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=notifications and check your settings, please? This is what I have set: Can you take a screen capture and upload it please?
sunrisecc Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I have reverted it back again to what I had yesterday. I hope it stays.
