Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
rct2·com Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I have some unfinished topics on the preview board. Can we expect it to be resurrected/merged/killed?
Rikki Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Killed I'm afraid. It's around for our reference for a bit longer, but it will not be saved in any form beyond that. I think the big red notice gave some warning of this :D
rct2·com Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Sure, just wanted to clarify. My feedback is that it would be nice if it was put back online, as a read-only archive. Different red notice I guess. Also, could we have some sub-forums for the modding community here now that IPB 3 is 'official'? Or should we expect to discuss stuff at that level at IPS Resources? I would suggest the former, because the modding capability of this new version is very exciting, and it might be better if discussion was visible to potential new customers here, rather than existing customers 'there'.
Rikki Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 As far as I know, we will add a forum for IPB3 discussion which I would assume will be suited to modding discussion too. Once IPB3 is final, I'm not certain what the plan is - the resource site should be getting some TLC though.
Black Prowler Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I asked this at the preview board but never made it back to if if you replied... Can't you move the important feedback topics from the preview board to a forum here on this board???
Management Matt Posted February 25, 2009 Management Posted February 25, 2009 Without wishing to sound rude or unhelpful: no. It would mean writing a custom script to merge topics and posts and member IDs and quite frankly, we don't want to do that.
bfarber Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I'm afraid you should basically consider the content on the preview board gone for good. ;) I'll try to scrape through it at some point and put up the useful stuff I posted to help developers somewhere, but we put up a big notice plenty in advance to prevent anyone from being surprised it was going away. It was, after all, simply a preview demo board.
Amy T Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I saved all of my posts but forgot to save my Pms.
rct2·com Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I have almost up to date saves too, but still think read only would be useful for others who didn't visit, and now the code is here, might benefit. Not forever, only until the official documentation is released. ;)
