vbulletin's basically does ajax if it is added to the same page, but regular if it is destined for a new page.

I agree this way is the best.

I also agree. While I'm not saying that we should totally overhaul the Fast Reply box, I don't see how a little AJAX couldn't improve it.

I personally don't see how it helps much though. The way it is now, you mustw ait for it to go to the new page. With ajax, you must wait for the "waiting" type of message to go away. i don't see how it helps much, other than if people think it may look a little better being done with ajax.

No. Ajax fast reply is the most pointless thing in the world. Ever. If our competition wish to throw feature sugar all over their product to make it taste better than it should, it's up to them. ;)

Well, I suppose that makes sense. :)

well i agree but with huge forums with tens of thousands of members it does make a difference, i'm not a fan of ajax everywhere like another forum software we'll leave unamed for now :P but key placed ones do have advantages.

Really? I don't see my 115796 registered members and 1384 user(s) active in the past 30 minutes have any problems with my Lightning Reply option. They love it actually.
