IPB 2.1.5 Released

personally i think 2.1.5 is a lot slower than 2.0.5, pages take quite a while to open and that pop up pm notifier hardly ever works so hope 2.2 will be greatly improved.

To be honest the pages don't seem to be loading up any slower for me (however i am on a fast connection so no pages load slowly really), on my board the PM notifier also works properly every single time.

If it doesn't work for you, perhaps there is a problem with your board that could be looked at/fixed by a member of staff here by submitting a support ticket :)

yep sorry thats what i meant , ive used ipb right from 1.3 and 2.1.5 is the only one thats loading slow im not slating it as i like ipb or i wouldn't have a lifetime license pity it doesnt load quicker tho and the pm pop up sometimes just gives a javascript eror.

This sounds like a personal issue, you should open a support ticket to get it fixed, because a javascript error could reduce the loading of a page.

Granted it could also be the fact your board is just slower now, then it was, but this website if has changed at all over the years is faster.

I apologize for the inconvenience, however at this time, the problem lies with IE, not with IPB. If you wish to REVERT this to the 2.1.4 behaviour (noting that the the indent and list tags WILL be broken) this is what you can do... Find the following in jscripts/ipb_editor_rte.js

var ie_ptags_to_newlines = false;

My users are having a problem with all the tags when using the RTE with IE, not just this double spacing issue. It seems to mess up quotes, colors, fonts, etc. etc. yet it works fine with RTE and Firefox. Will this also be fixed by doing the js fix?

Just coming back to answer my own question, LOL. Yes, it did fix it. I understand with it being an IE issue, though. I sent a ticket b/c I couldn't log in to my chat admin panel; but it turns out I can log in just fine using firefox, so I told them nevermind, LOL.

Nothing happens when I click on either the image or the e-mail in the rte post editor, when I click the URL/Link button, I get the error above, any ideas? This all happened when I upgraded to 2.1.5

What exactly were the changes the the skin sets? The upgrader asked me if I wanted to change them and I said no, not realizing it would basically break the RTE feature on the forums... if there is a manual upgrade for this, I would much appreciate it.

It shouldn't break the RTE at all... make sure the skin is updatd.

Open install/sql/mysql_inserts.php

Find:

That should take care of that problem. The board will install, but then you'll also get other errors such as session not inserting, etc. etc.

do the recent security patches also get rolled into the IPB 2.1.4 to 2.1.5 Upgrade Pack (2.1.5) files, or will I still need to apply them?

This meaning downloading IPB 2.1.4 to 2.1.5 Upgrade Pack (2.1.5) now, not when it was first released.

At one site I knew, they wouldn't upgrade from 1.3 since "it cost money" basically, and it took a major worm attack to change their minds.

I can't see any info about the exploits being fixed with this update, nor can I see a 'hot-fix' for them.

Edit/update: OK, so I just download the 'latest' version from Invision, only to find a few issues with. The first is the FILE NAME IS EXACTLY THE SAME as the last one I downloaded. Seriously guys, how can you keep track of stuff if the file names are the same? There also is no version bumping, why not? Its an update, so update the minor version number at least. There is NO released date info, again, why not? I'm yet to install it, so I'm gussing there is still a chance if do NOT have the latest version, at this stage I'm more lost than any thing else as to this entire update.

We over at Mess.be are running 2.0.4 and we have a few people trying that econd one, but it doesnt seem to do anything.
