Runiteshark
Basically put, after going through a hellish experience with a pathetic upgrade script, I think that there should be a check on the sql tables that are ment to be modified instead of checking the version ID table. The reason being, is you can mess up an upgrade, and the version ID will say that you are perfectly fine when this is clearly not the case. So yeah, it would be a semi-easy task to implement, and make IPB feel much more robust.
Coastie
agreed, and another problem, if you have a failed upgrade, and try to run the upgrade again, it fails if any new tables are created in the DB, even with no data from the original DB altered, the upgrade will fail. You have to either manually figure out what was added, or restore a backup and start all over again.
