  1. My site froze everyday and had me looking for new hosting with more resources. However, we believe the yandex.ru spider has been the culprit. If you are experiencing periodic daily downtimes check the activity level of yandex.ru before upgrading your hosting.
  2. As reported recently, the fastest growing demographic in social networking is women age 55+. The age group 35-54 is also growing at a significant pace. My suggestion is to take those groups more into consideration when creating or implementing future designs/features. Perhaps use focus groups for their feedback. http://www.istrategylabs.com/2009/07/ While a lot of new things on IP3 are nice I find that most people in the 35-54 age group don't pay much attention to them. The reputation system is not at all on their radar. At least not in the group I have. Priority number one in my view is ease of use and easy on the eyes. Warmer colors. Present front page text is too washed out. The present homepage text all looks the same ... size, color, weight. Hard to tell what's a link and what isn't. Should be easier to distinguish all of it at a quick glance. Not that they are the only group to consider, but that group should be given much thought in the design process, IMO.
  3. I wish someone would light a fire and release this. This is getting to be annoying to say the least. We're working with critical bugs that are fixed here but we need them fixed too. Plus members are leaving over this view new content issue. (Note just the view new posts but the entire format - topic starter - views etc). Either release 3.0.1 or tell us the code so we can put it on our boards.
  4. There's a poll on this issue at 'View New' poll
  5. Getting a few ticket requests is hardly a majority. A majority is what's more like everyone on a forum who is not an admin hating this new format. Is this designed for forum users or admins? This three man majority has unfortunately caused many (most) users on our forum to greet IP3 with a grunt. What a waste of an otherwise good version, to be overshadowed by this. But I will submit my ticket asking for all of the features in View New Posts to be returned.
  6. Oh come on, the majority. That's nonsense. This change is more about coder ego and has nothing to do with what a majority thinks. I'm also looking for the return of the original poster. Is that part of the offer too?
  7. I have had one positive comment about the new board. The rest have been nothing but complaints about view new content. I can assure you, if there had not been a change to VNP I would have members doing cartwheels and raving about the board. This silly change has ruined a good forum. Needlessly, and no one seems to give a crap.
  8. I would like to have a chat with the people who apparently had an issue with the old view new posts. How many went to IP asking for this existing conversion on 2.3.6 and exactly which planet are they from? Lets bring it on ... turn this into a UFC match.
  9. I notice the modified version only finds posts from the homepage. What code would go in to work on all forum pages.
  10. I may have it working. Removed the else statement too.
  11. When I use the code noted in that article this is the result I get when using the function: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ELSE, expecting T_FUNCTION in /home/home/public_html/forums/admin/applications/forums/extensions/searchPlugin.php on line 443
  12. I tried what the article said and it created errors. Perhaps someone on the development team can volunteer to make the change for me on my board.
  13. Long before IP3 was introduced I surveyed my members on surfing habits. 56% used view new posts as there sole method for using the board. All the hard work of the development team is overshadowed by this issue. Very misguided change. Both unfortunate and unnecessary.
  14. I've been talking about this since the first day of IP3 previews in 2008. My hunch is now supported by feedback from my membership. View New Posts and Today's Active Posts. View New Content is a step down from View New Posts. Not sure what prompted it but it makes no sense. People want to follow their own threads through that feature. Was it that difficult to keep their own read posts in it? I'm trying to understand the logic for making that change. Both of the above also need reference to the original posters in threads. Without reverting back to those features it doesn't matter how much better the rest of the board is. They immediately detract from what should be a huge leap forward.
  15. Thanks Wolfie. The Google Topics mod works wonders. BTW, I noticed you mention Openx advertisers, publishers etc. LOL. Man, Openx sure is a clusterfcuk but once it gets working it works great.
  16. IP3 looks great. A big learning curve but overall it's impressive. My last remaining issue is how to integrate OpenX and adsense scripts into the site? For example I would love to have the ability to simply put an adsense script in the forum rules area. Same with openx (but for it I need permission-based viewing i.e. guests only). Old upgraded mods that use to work with those scripts don't any more, like DevFuse's 'Guest Message'. That was a workable alternative but now the alternatives aren't working either. How can we integrate those kind of scripts into the board?
  17. Thank you very much.
  18. I have about 14 different member groups on 2.3.6. When I upgrade will it automatically create and transfer members to those usergroups or do I have to make usergroup changes after installation/upgrade?
  19. Can you help someone get started on how everything works? Is there any documentation, skinning guide etc?
  20. rbiss

    Skin Guide?

    Is there documentation on skinning?
