Edjazoli reacted to Nathan Explosion in (NE) Translate
Thanks for that - I'll have a think on that one; the issue is that the location I am hooking into is hidden on phone if the viewer doesn't have any of the surrounding site permissions, one of which being the ability to comment on the topic which a guest won't have unless "post before registering" is enabled, or the forum allows guests to post.
Shouldn't be a problem to change that up.

That's a desktop screenshot I've put up above - so is it "not" showing on mobile?
If so, I'll take a look later.

I'll take a look - the hook is probably into an area where guests can't see, so should be an easy fix.
Nope, shows fine for me:
And there it is on your site:
You've asked previously, and the answer is still the same - currently, the application is in bug-fix only mode. If I add new features at a later point, then it will be one I will take a look at.

Nah, stuff that. A little bit more testing, based on a hunch, and it appears that the issue is the hyphens separating the words in the text of the links. If I convert them to underscores then it translates and ignores the links, just like Google.
Off I go to tinker...

Thank you - will take a look tomorrow to see what I can do.
No need - I will test myself tomorrow.

Confirmed on my side - when the request is processed by DeepL's API, the source language is being detected as English. But I'm not sure why it's then NOT translating the English words to the chosen language instead - it just leaves it untranslated, and sends it back as such.
So, here is what I am going to try out...
Either detect an unchanged translation (text before & after exactly the same) and put in a fall-back to indicate to the user that the translation couldn't be done, and to choose the source language themselves for a further translation attempt.
Or...just exclude text in URLs from the content being translated. (which is what Google does by default)
See how that goes.

Thats correct.Thx, already contacted with DeepL Team so maybe they will fine tune the engine in the future. Will check with Goggle as well.

I will look into it on Thursday.
Actually got 5 mins at the end of my day to take a look - I reckon the DeepL API is detecting the source language of the content as English because there are a lot more English words in the content than there are Polish.
Change the content to the following and I reckon it will be all good:
Can you confirm? Not sure there is anything I can do about it, if it is the case, but I'll take a closer look on Thursday.

How long is the content in character terms? Provide a link directly to the item please.

Edjazoli got a reaction from SeNioR- in Joined solutions and bulk reactions.
Hi guys, what about add an option to join solutions? I realised that some of the members adding “almost” solutions to the topic and the another member adds the rest of it or at least extra information. I don’t want to be this person who on the end making an answer with two combined posts and taking away the happiness and point(most solved etc) from them.
As well, It will be nice to add an option to send reactions in the bulk(admin only?) in certain topics( maybe can be optionally enabled in certain sub-forums) example…In https://xbox-vibes.com/topic/2284-question-of-the-weekpytanie-tygodnia-36/#comment-5982 , competitions/games all the answers are liked by me and sometimes I’d like just to pop in and award all the members who’s taking a part.

? No need for an apology...I just needed clarity on what it was you were referring to.

Edjazoli reacted to Nathan Explosion in (NE) Translate
What does this mean? Why do I need to remember them? Is this a feature enhancement request?
If it is enhancement request, then if it is a request to change the title/question/choices of a poll within a topic then I will keep it in mind if I do any further new features on the resource. Based on the total success of it from a sales point of view, this is currently bug-fix only.

v1.3.0 is currently pending approval
New added functionality to display a 'Translate this topic' menu at the top of a topic, which will translate all viewable comments on the screen the title of topic/event/record will now also be translated in the following situations: if/when the first displayed comment in a topic's comment feed is translated if/when a database record is translated if/when an event is translated IMPORTANT: if a translation is marked as 'Protected' in the ACP, then it should be either be a) manually updated to translate the title or b) deleted so that a new one can be generated by a user. If either of those isn't done then the title will remain untranslated. Fixes fixed issue where certain characters in content may cause translated content to be partially shown. fixed issue with second tab could not be clicked when editing translations, if the language contained the ( or ) characters Changes None -

Yep, just grabbed a few mins to do a quick test. That will be fixed in the next release, easily solved..already kludging another conflicting tag in there so would just need to add a few more in there.

By "Something in the content" I am referring to a character within the content - as I said, I doubt it is character amount because I've already looked at the post and it's not that long.
Leave it with me - I've got enough information now to be able to figure it out (likely the > characters causing a conflict with html tags)

Ditto - this bad boy is now out and about.
I'm going for a sleep.

This one will be included in the next release after v1.2.1, with the following caveats:
specifically for Forums only specifically for only the visible comments - each comment to be translated will use 1 API call, and if I send everything from a topic containing 767 comments then you might as well go put the kettle on...twice. And is now available.

Edjazoli reacted to Nathan Explosion in (NE) Translate
Thanks for confirming - your API key isn't being accepted by their site at present. Just in case that is my fat fingers typing it out from the image you sent me, can you send me the text version of the key via PM please?
-
Edjazoli reacted to Nathan Explosion in (NE) Translate
Up to you - but if it's a Pro API then the URL below the API key needs to be changed.
Let's improve that area a little to assist with that element - scratch that, found the Pro API URL.
Leave it with me for the moment.

Edjazoli reacted to Nathan Explosion in (NE) Translate
@Edjazoli - sorry, but this is the support topic for the resource..I don't use PM as first point of contact.
Easy fix - it's just a typo.
Interesting - will do a brand new install on my test site, see if it fails for me too and go from there.

Not fully following you here - are you referring to moving the 'Translate' menu to different positions?

v1.2.1 has been submitted for approval
New added setting to allow easy switch of DeepL plan being used, to force use of different API endpoints Fixes fixed issue with 'Errors' page in ACP not opening due to a typo in the code Changes hard-coded "Translate" in HTML template changed to a language string Removed redundant .css call from HTML template Renamed .js file to remove an informational message from developer console (message may be construed as an error when it isn't actually an issue) Will have a think about that one.
Not something that I can control - I'm using the IPS form helper to generate the select box for the Languages, which makes it their code and not mine. I will say that Safari on Mac is a pain in the proverbials though.
