MorLenka got a reaction from Ambulance in Quick request if you have 2 minutes...
In December 2003 when I first startet my online community, it was quite random that the choice fell on Invision Power Board. Later though, I did some research on different community software, looked at pros and cons, and I was still happy with my choice. The forums look and work smooth and are very adaptable. I was able to add paid subscription packages back in 2008. The admin control panel is intuitive to use. And it only gets better. I am happy to pay for the constant development and the support that I can get.

I disagree (regarding my board and business anyway). I've been the Admin for 15 years now and had the private forums for (paying) members for 10 years. My experience with this, is that the forums are best with the owners in charge and private for those end their members - it's their own place on the board and a lot of them are using it for really sensitive information with a smaller group, for example about mental health, personal conflicts etc. I should of course be able to see the content if really necessary (and not without warning if you ask me), but reading it every day as part of my ordinary user experience on my board does not feel right. I avoid it manually for now.

Thanks for raising the issue - I've submitted a patch for review since I happened to stumble across this topic. Upon review the patch will be included in a future maintenance release.

No, it shouldn't but I'd still like to help out anyway.

Sure - this is the link I have tested above: https://www.ted.com/talks/ruth_chang_how_to_make_hard_choices
    Thanks, I will try that!
    EDIT: Worked perfectly!

    Anyway....
This is the resulting iframe content, prior to submission:
    <div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo" contenteditable="false"> <div> <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="316" mozallowfullscreen="true" scrolling="no" src="https://embed.ted.com/talks/mary_maker_why_educating_refugees_matters" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="560"></iframe> </div> </div> The AllowedIFrameBases contains embed-ssl.ted.com and not embed.ted.com
I suspect that TED recently changed their returned embed code on their oembed endpoint, and embed.ted.com now needs to be added to the AllowediFrameBases list supported by IPS.
Note: if a user has "Can post HTML" permission via group membership then they won't see this problem (I am not suggesting that you use that as a workaround right now)
Here is a quick plugin that should assist with the problem until IPS resolves it - log a ticket, direct them to this post.
    (NE) TED workaround.xml

    There’s a setting for this:

    It's a problem.
Click on an arrow and select "Manage ADMIN Modules". There are 3 modules which should be enabled.

Thank you for the clarification ... but I don't think that it's optional. When someone creates a hidden group, it should be expected that posts in the group are not readable for anyone how hasn't joined - as default! Even for groups that are public, it should a default, that guests cannot read posts in there, without joining.

Is it hard to change in the code? For me it needs to be a default, I won't be able to use it otherwise. People need to trust that when they create a hidden group - then it's completely hidden without them having to change settings first! It would to big a risk that they would post something confedentional or personal, without realising.

I hope this will be changed in the code, or at least I would like to know where to change it, so as default the above settings are set, so that guests cannot read posts in groups :)

Is it really on purpose that posts even from hidden groups are showing and are readable for everyone through the View new content? It seems like a privacy issue.

It does not help to change the permissions of the group discussion (at least of my test users have done it correctly).

I also still have a problem with this ... this is the only reason why I can't use the social groups for other than testing for now :( - members expect their posting to be private (at least in the hidden groups!) but they seem to come up in the forums new content.

I agree ... would be nice if the checkbox was automatically checked - or at least the error message clear, since I was confused myself as an admin who knows mysql :P - have not tested with users yet, since forum is still in test mode and no users have created a group yet.
