Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Milly Mikkelsen Posted July 9 Posted July 9 With the contact information box which shows the email address of that user in their profile, it states that only staff can see this. Is it possible to change so that a member can see the email address on profiles?
Jim M Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Allowing regular users to see email addresses is not only a PII concern but can open you up to malicious attacks and spam to the user. You could theoretically make your base member group a moderator in ACP -> Members -> Staff -> Moderators with no moderator permissions and that should do it. However, again, it is not something which is at all recommended and you would be taking a lot of risks on by doing so.
Milly Mikkelsen Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 K got it, yeah that makes sense that its not really a good idea at all.
Gary Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Hi @Milly Mikkelsen, This is where Messages will be your best asset. With Messages enabled on your community, your members will be able to contact each other without needing an email address. This will keep personal information secure, and ensures content relevant to your community stays within your community.
