Complete your profile page

Some of our members are seeing a 'Complete your profile' page asking for their display name and password when trying to access our site but when i go to the ACP under the profile setting there is nothing there under the profile completion page. How do i find this 'complete your profile page'? I'm trying to remove it but cannot find where it is.

If the users were imported or you are using an external site to create users, whether that's through an SSO or API, if they are missing a display name or password, the system will prompt them when logging in as this is require information.

@Jim M We are using an external site to create users, however some of our members notified us (after already creating an invision profile) they are still seeing this page. They add their already established display name and password but are given an error that they already have a profile created.

You would need to check how those are created and how they are logging in. It sounds like you're creating a new user again so it would be true that they couldn't use that display name again.

Thank you. We have been able to resolve the initial issue, but now when folks register through invision directly, their first and last name appear in the forums, not their display name. Is there a way to have everyone be viewed by their display names only, and automatically?

They would need to have filled out their Display Name as their Display Name. That is how the software works by default 🙂 . If you incorrectly did this previously with a third party login provider/api or the user inserted their actual name as their display name, the system was instructed to show that as their display name.
