We have been using Invision Community for some time now. Since we started we have grown and added new forums for our community. We have taken advantage of the ability to create different groups and edit the permissions of our forums so that specific groups and view specific forums. Currently we have two main groups. Group A and Group B, each with their own handful of designated forums. Group A cannot see Group B's forums and vis versa. It would be a very useful upgrade to allow for new members to register and indicate which group they align with so upon logging into the community, they access their appropriate group of forums. As the community grows, it is impossible to manually do this for every member. It's impossible to ensure the privacy of each group's designated forums.

Just to clarify, would this automatically add the member to the group, or only indicate which group they identify with and an admin would have to manually add them to that group?

If you’re talking about the resource I linked, the user will choose a group among the ones allowed by the admin.

But once registered will they automatically be added to the group? We are currently manually editing members groups in the ACP.
