Canal World Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 (edited) Hi, We recently updated to v4.7.2.1. One of the first things I did was configure & enable hcaptcha. To my surprise, we're now receiving more in the way of spam through the contact form. Of course, we cannot be sure that it wasn't submitted by a human rather than a bot, but the point remains. Is it possible to add functionality so that guests have to validate their email address in order to complete the form submission? Not only will this help to reduce spam, it will also mean that we can be sure that the user is who they say they are and not someone pretending to be another user. Appreciate some sites may want this, so the ability to enable/disable this feature would be good too. Thank you Edited October 11, 2022 by CanalWorld
Nathan Explosion Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 FYI - I'm going to add something for this to the following resource. It will be off by default, and when enabled will be targeted to guests only: AlexWebsites 1
Nathan Explosion Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 @CanalWorld send me a PM if you want to see how this will work via my test site

Just to confirm, wiil this addon allow us to validate email addresses for guest submissions on the contact page? Still, more should be done to prevent spam via the contact page by default. We have had to shift away from the Invision ticket system for time-being.

The change log for v1.8.0 is in that post I linked to and that is how the feature I have added will work.
