I need an Email notification when someone registers

As the Admin I want to be notified via an email when someone registers for the forum, but I can't figure out how to get that to happen.  I have had some registrations sit for way too long before I realized they had registered

Go into your ACP, click the bell and I am pretty sure there is a notification setting for that.

There is indeed, as mentioned by Nathan. Click on the bell icon, then click 'notification settings'. Select whatever you wish to get notifications for in this respect under the 'Member accounts' section.
