Sick of relentless spam

Has anyone got a decent solution?

I spend half my day deleting spam posts.

Depends on your set up. Do you allow guest posts? Do you use Post-before-Register? Do you validate email addresses? Do you use a Captcha? Which one? Do you use a Question-and-Answer challenge? Do you moderate posts, e.g. the ones with links or every user’s first post? 

There are many built-in options.

Ensuring that you are using all spam related options stated here would be the first thing you should do. I am unable to log into your site to take a look as there are no logon details on file.
