Referral work with subscriptions?

@Marc Stridgen please explain if the below referral program work for subscriptions too? And if yes, how?

Also explain if this is just one-way discount for new buyers or both way discount like dropbox (way to go) - new buyer get discount + old customer also get some discount?

The commission is given to the person referring, and not to both. Any purchase at all is eligible for commission, unless you specifically state for only set items to be eligible.
