How to let users post links to news articles

Using a database in Pages is an exercise in torture.

Why is the Content field required? 

Is there a way to kill it, or at least make it optional?

All I want is a link with a title. 

It's so simple, yet so impossible.

Yes, you can make it optional in the content field settings. (and then even hide it through the permissions)

I don’t know your use case, but it’s probably even better to reassign the content field to whatever other “main field” your database has.
