Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
TDBF Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 I just noticed to today that I had some .htaccess files left over from the v3.4 install which were not compatible with Apache 2.2. I just wanted to know if there should be an .htaccess for the 'uploads' directory for v4 (or any other directory for that matter? api excluded).
AndyF Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 Generally (with a Linux server at least) you'll have one in the suite root directory to deal with friendly URL's amongst other things. Might be one alongside a .htapass (or similar) in the admin directory to password protect it too. I had a quick look at a (upgraded 3x) board and that retained the .hta file in the uploads directory, its mainly to protect against listing/execution of said contents so personally I'd leave it there if the site is working fine.
