Sheffielder Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 How badly impacted from an SEO perspective would moving my forum to the root folder be? e.g www.website.com/forums to www.website.com It's a fairly long established forum
bfarber Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 As long as you 301 redirect everything after the move, your SEO should recover within a few months in most cases.
Sheffielder Posted September 6, 2018 Author Posted September 6, 2018 Thank you 🙂 Is there a really quick/easy to understand/dummies guide for stupid people as to how to do that 🙂

marklcfc Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I did this with mine sometime last year and still don't know if I did it right, was a mess for a while as everyone was being directed to /forums/ even though there was nothing there - I'd previously had a permanent redirect going to that directory, for at least 10 years... so unless they removed their cookies etc they still saw /forums/ I added a redirect into htaccess for a year or so which appeared to fix it then removed it not long ago, I just assume it's ok now
Sheffielder Posted September 11, 2018 Author Posted September 11, 2018 Did it mess up your Search Engine visibility much mate?
