missing message icon in menu for user?

Somehow the user changed a setting and got rid of it.

I didn't even know this was an option, how do I bring it back?

they probably disabled their messenger, Go to the ACP and their profile and see if it's disabled

IS there a query I can run to turn on EVERYONES messenger before I install Adrianos free plugin. I really do not want this to be an option for anyone on my site.
