Hello,
I have to make the registration process to the community subordinate to the insertion of an alphanumeric code.

The idea is that an aspiring new user first enter one of these codes: the system should check if the code is valid (and unused) comparing it with a stored list and finally proceed with registration (only if the verification were successful).

Any ideas on how to do that with IPS?

Or if a suitable plugin already exist?

Thank you all,
Ric.

Easy, cheap method:

Require all registrations to be manually validated. Create a new custom profile field for code.  When user registers, they input code.  Moderator manually confirms.

Hard expensive method:

Commission a custom registration.

Thanks Joel,
But I can't use the cheap way: the user has to be immediately operative (and we're speaking about several thousand people to be validated...)

With commission a custom registration you mean to find a developer to do the job?

Thanks,
Ric.

Another option - use existing functionality to handle this element (note the strikethrough)

and then the only customisation needed would be a pplugin that could remove the provided code from the list of answers to handle the "(and unused)" element after the account has been registered.

Well, Nathan,
this could be an interesting workaround.
But I'm speaking about 9k users (and consequently 9k alphanumeric code to insert)...
Maybe if the answers could be dynamically loaded from an external database...

Thanks,
Ric.
