How to add prefix to members name?

I wanted to add a prefix to members name by using Groups

Example:

[Sgt] *Name*

 

Would anyone be able to assist?

You need add this via group settings in Admin CP under group formatting need add your prefix.

I see the group formatting but would you perhaps know the actual code to add some sort of abbreviation in front of the name?

There is no real core function to add group prefixes. And the group formatting option isn’t used in many places. 

Maybe it would be easier to create images for your groups which display things like [Sgt] as image. The group image can then be shown in the forum view, like the contributors badge here in the topic.
