Jed Rosenzweig Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Hey guys, what's up? Me? Just chilling with my reindexing processes, 24 hours later. Let's hang.
Ohio Guns Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Did you try to manually run them using the link? Are you on shared hosting?
Jed Rosenzweig Posted December 10, 2016 Author Posted December 10, 2016 Oh I'm not really complaining. I'm on IPS enterprise hosting and we've got a bazillion forums and posts. I wish we could do it faster or off-load it somehow as users only care that function A, B or C is wonky at the moment. I am curious what triggers the need for reindexing in certain updates though.

I had to do it 3 times to get rid of the "duplicate entry" errors for the last two updates. Probably they are adding a field , column to DB or Index and it needs to be recreated.
Jed Rosenzweig Posted December 12, 2016 Author Posted December 12, 2016 72 hours-ish! Let's start a book club.
Jed Rosenzweig Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 FWIW for anyone looking at a long reindexing: The post reputation took about 2x or 3x as long as the post rebuilding appears to be taking.
