sweethoney Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 im going to show you how to remove the <h1>forums</h1> tags for members who is new to ipb go to theme that you are using and find page header end edit the title what it is doing its puting forums as your h1>tags in search on google and here is the results when you change the title i use internet business promoter for my website check
Sheffielder Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Surely there's a reason that the H1 tags are as they are?
MADMAN32395 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 There probably is way better SEO checkers than ibusinesschecker lol Main ones I would worry about would be Google's XD
sweethoney Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 ipb has it as <1h>forums witch most member don't even realize that..... it was just a little experiment.. yea there might be something better than i business checker but i use that because it compare's other website that are like mine and it find keyword that i need..
Sheffielder Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 I am interested in this but can't understand why invision wouldn't have already sorted it so that the important keywords and titles are H1 ?
opentype Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 As mentioned here already, changing the templates should be a last resort. You can edit language variables to change text or hide stuff via CSS for example. 9 minutes ago, Sheffielder said: … but can't understand why invision wouldn't have already sorted it so that the important keywords and titles are H1 ? What needs to be sorted exactly? What’s wrong? What would be better?

So for example when you go to a website SEO checker instead of the H1 title being 'forum' it might be the title of the website or thread e.g. 'formula one racing'

If you open a specific forum or topic, their specific titles will be the H1 tag. And the forum index title as “forum” is also a good default, because “forum” is THE keyword for people looking for certain forums. You are free to override all that to improve it further. But that can hardly be automatic.

sweethoney Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 thats not why i posted this here i think you are not getting the picture its just a little tutorial

If you think it isn't, show it, instead of repeating what apparently isn't true. Or we are getting nowhere. 25 minutes ago, Sheffielder said: Nobody who comes to my forum is actually using the word 'forum' in the search that brings them to the site I was talking about the forum index or the site itself, not specific queries. If you run a forum about "Chrysler cars" and people are looking for a forum about Chrysler cars than "Chrysler forum" would be a standard Google query and having "forum" in titles and URL slugs is just good practise.
sweethoney Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 only way that forums comes up if someone was looking for forums about Chrysler but if you type Chrysler you are going to get the car dealers you get my point
