You can ignore the modification indication and the default state. That refers to IPS’ default templates, which are irrelevant for custom templates. If you do anything on these screens, you replace the SuperGrid code with the default IPS code. You will hardly ever want that. 

If you never touched the templates, you can always just upgrade the plugin (carrying the templates) and the templates are updated when needed. 

You only need to deal with these code comparisons if you manually made change to the templates. In this case, the upgrade will prompt a code comparison where you would need to decide if you want to keep your own lines or have them replaced with the templates in the plugins.

Nevermind I just realized this doesn't go in a template file but in the Display Options when editing a field.

I am using sharp images as the record image and they appear sharp in record view, yet they are blurry on the front page? 

Edit: I deselected "Use Thumbnails for Listing" in the plug-in settings, and now images are sharp.

Even better: Increase the thumbnail size in the database settings. The default is rather small (200x200 pixels). 
Note: This change only affects new uploads.

Thank you! Why is that better? Would it make the page load faster because it would be using smaller image files?

Yes. If you have 20 articles on the listing page and all use the full-size image, it will load much slower than using thumbnail images of say 600 by 600 pixels.

Is it possible to remove "in Articles" since that is the only place where all my articles are?

Your only choice would be to remove the entire byline.

On my Article home page, the bylines display: 

1. The number of comments,
2. The number of views,
3. A blue raised thumb icon for reactions. 

However, in the Supergrid block, I see a fa-fa chart icon instead of the blue raised thumb icon?

Not much space in blocks, so it uses a reduced reaction counter there.

Ok I was able to change the icon in Pages > Pages Management > Templates > Block Plugin Templates > RecordFeed > supergrid to make it look like this which I like better than the chart icon:
