"Download attachments" for guests?

Hello,

attachments are part of the postings and can't be hided individually. OK, got it. But what does the permission setting "download attachments" exactly mean, especially for guests who do not have an attachment center?

What is different if I uncheck the box for guests?

I found a couple of topics about this issue here at ipb but none of them contained a helpful answer.

As subscribed in the ticket, the attachment permissions work for all attachments except images.If you upload a zip file or a pdf to a post which guests aren't allowed to view, or where guests don't have permissions to download attachments, they won't be able to view the attachment.
