Surely with the code etc already there in 4.0 it would be possible to bring it to 4.1?

This is something I can do, but it's more or less theme specific, not really a hook or anything.

Would it work like the old view new content or would it still be activity streams? I had the idea of removing the stream dropdown if this was in any way possible, but I suppose it wouldn't matter if the end result was the same, I just preferred how forums worked before the latest change.

Without taking a very close look, it would function the same way as it does now, but be templated like the old way.
