Creating bulk accounts - csv format - how does this work?

Is there a format for the csv file?   What can you do?  Can you put them in to a member group? Set their pw?

How exactly does this work?

Is it possible to set a standard pw and force them to reset it when they log in? 

I have to make over 2000 and I don't want to email them individually to send their PW.

Any suggestions?

First step - use the 'Download Member List' to see the data that can be included, and then see the resulting csv file.....you can go from there, really. Use that file to then see what the options are when you use it....and you'll see what else you can do with passwords/emails and, if you want, mapping of other csv formats to the columns that are used in the members table.
