Strange file names for images

Featured Replies

Posted

If I upload an image and use it in a content item and than download this image, it has a file name with the file type twice.

Example:

Original file name:
example.jpg

New file name:
564c3a6643e70_example.jpg.e4f937fdee158c6e1b1c00556a1d63db.jpg

I understand adding an individual number at the beginning, but not the long part at the end and the double file type.

Support alredy told me that this is the way the system works at the moment. Are there any plans to change this behavior in future releases?

Thanks,
Markus

Afaik this is a md5 hash ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD5 ) of the image. It makes sense to add them to figure out if a picture is unique or not.
I see now reason for changing that ... :)
