Annoying notification icon (content already read)

It is really annoying that the notification counter does not decrease or go away when I already read the content.

It was annoying in IPS 4.0 but with 4.1 it is a level higher. Now I directly click on the push notification to read content. I don't see the purpose of the counter after I read the content.

@Makoto That's something different. @querschlaeger is suggesting that if I have a notification for a new topic, and I read that topic, that notification should automatically be marked as read, even if I haven't clicked on it. It's a good idea, but not currently how it works.
