Show custom blocks only on selected forums?

Hey all,

I'm trying to place custom blocks on individual subforums with ads that relate directly to that topic, however, it seems that when i add a block to the side bar, it gets added throughout the hierarchy of my forum and shows on every page. Is there a way I can place blocks only on specific pages of my forum without them showing on every page?

I do, but where I need the blocks to appear is within forums and sub forums so I can target my ads directly to the specific topic. 

I'm trying to find someone to make this plugin for me, but I'm having a seriously hard time finding anyone to take on this little job...I'd like to release it in the marketplace once it's done.

no techhie here but with Pages you have a wsiwyg editor  and you can insert in ad image,,,, and you can also add that into your subforums   ... above or at side  wherever you want them to be

open your subforum for example then use the block manager which will have PAGES wsiwyg editor and then place it where you want it

Hmm, I just tried that, it doesn't seem to be working... Basically what is happening is the blocks that I put on the forum section of my site will appear throughout every part of the forum instead of just the sub forums i place them in. I've actually found someone who's going to make this plugin for me so I should have a solution for this ready tomorrow!

oh yeah I see what you mean now...  same here. I added some images at the side of a subform using the wsiwyg editor and they showed on all the other subforums as well as the main forum too.

Here's an idea

Note:This idea will only work for newly created forums.

 

1. Create Pages - for example three pages of names 1,2 and 3 (Of course every page database)

2. Categories and forums Page 1 wants to look as if APP Forum Subforum 1 (similarly - page 2 and page 3)

3. (App Forums) Create Subforums 1,2 and 3 type Redirect - Subforum 1 link is a link to the page 1 etc.

Each page 1,2 and 3 can have various widgets - blocks, ads etc.

this is going to be silly question... does anyone know what size images can go in each sidebar/or top of site?  I want to use the plugin for banners ads, so maybe I should add some image trials like a bit of trial and error guess work eh?

or is there some way of looking at the space size in the code somewhere so I can work out image size?

 

I might just ask this in another thread in the lounge maybe
