Basic Localhost Question

I have Ubuntu installed as a dual boot to my Windows computer. I want to install xxampp to the

software to run a localhost for development purposes by I'm new to linux and having

a time trying to run the installer for xampp on my system, any one have any suggestions?

Thanks, I have it installed now. Now I just have to learn to setup a test install dir.

You could actually use Windows straight away, with a decent wamp. You could even build it yourself :). It is a little bit harder, but there are a bunch of good guides out there.
