Ocean West Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Was considering the Amazon S3 storage for file storage but other then knowing how big my "uploads" directory is I am not sure how to guess the puts/gets and transfers. What is a typical budget for something like this. Will this boost server performance?
Makoto Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 We can't really tell you what a typical budget it, it 100% depends on your traffic. You need to look at your traffic yourself and try and estimate these things. When utilized like this it's simply outsourcing. It'll lessen the burden on your server a bit and reduce your bandwidth/storage requirements, but unless you handle a large number of file transfers on your server it's not likely to make a significant difference in server load or performance.Network performance may improve on the other hand. That depends entirely on how powerful your server network is. If you have a slow or congested network, it could definitely help in this regard.Do you know how much bandwidth your server consumes on average on a monthly basis?
