bigPaws Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 For a while I've been waiting for more news in the announcements forum listed at the top when looking on mobile. Today I discovered that @Charles has been posting many new announcements but they are appearing at the bottom of the page instead? Bit odd to have it this way? Why are there 2 places for announcements now? Both appear to be called News & Announcements? Top = old Bottom = new!
Cemmos Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 The announcement at the top is using the announcement feature and is meant for InvisionPower.com specifically. The stuff on the right-hand side are blog entries. You should follow this to get notifications of new blog entries: http://community.invisionpower.com/blogs/blog/1174-news-and-announcements/
bigPaws Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Right but if they are posting announcements in the blog now why bother with the old forum/system too? Having 2 places for announcements is just unnecessary...!
The Jimmo Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Technically your first picture is a "Featured Announcement", the 2nd is the feed from those blogs. The first being announcement of the forums being changed over to IPS4 is a very important message that needs to be highlighted. The rest are updates that can be followed. It makes sense, just can't think of them as the same thing.
bigPaws Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 The ones at the bottom are called News & Announcements which sounds important? Top one is News and Information, less important? Having two areas with virtually identical titles is not confusing? Playing devils advocate here to try and point out the oddity of using two areas.
Management Lindy Posted February 5, 2015 Management Posted February 5, 2015 We can work on cleaning this up. The News and Announcements forum itself is becoming obsolete. What you're seeing at the bottom are our announcement blog entries. You can think of the top one as a global "sticky" announcement.
