mycota Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Blocks should not apply to Categories and Records in pages. You should be able to select the different levels where you want them to apply.Should have an override to change the language at the category level. In one category you may want to add a dog, another to add a cat. While at the main database you may want to add a pet.

You can assign different fields to different categories now and through that also change the applicable words.
Michael R Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I've been messing around with 4.0 and Pages in particular. Is there any documentation or help on Pages I can take a look at? I would like to create some sort of "magazine" front to my site using pages. I would love to see some examples if anyone is doing that.
mycota Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Not really sure what you are trying to achieve, but I guess that is already possible in 4.0. You can assign different fields to different categories now and through that also change the applicable words. The language feature stays the same in each category. So when you are adding cats in the cats category it still says "Add a Pet." And When you are adding dogs it says "Add a Pet." You cannot change the language to cats ir dogs to match the field.
opentype Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 So when you are adding cats in the cats category it still says "Add a Pet."Which is usually the right way to do it. After all: it is a database of pets and you add a pet. If it’s a databases of “articles” you “add an article” – whatever the category name is. If your records are are stored in alphabetic categories “A”, “B”, “C” … you don’t want the button to be “Add an A”. And so on. There is some logic to it.
mycota Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 If you have 10 categories, it would be helpful from a user perspective to know they are entering it into the right area, without needing to make sure the path they are in is correct. Not a difficult mod, but I can see many instances where it would be useful.
