[Suggestion] Beta Opt In

Before I begin, I'd just like to say that I know you already have a methods for Q & A testing to be done before general public testing, and I am sure that this works quite well for you. However, I was wondering if a system, similar to what I am about to suggest, might help in this process. (paired with the right back-end algorithm for picking users) I believe this might be something very useful in the future.

With that being said, I was wondering if an Opt In and Opt Out process might be useful when determining the best testing demographic to give beta testing rights to. Or even Alpha for that matter. Maybe something like this?

AFAIK the QA Testers are hand picked for testing products etc (not directly related to the 4x Preview) based on various criteria, I could well speculate on said criteria and have some thoughts etc but that's not my place.

I can see where you're going with your idea though and it does have potential. smile.png My only thought is IPS may likely want (for internal only QA testing) people who will test things, if that makes sense.

Hence this as a 'thank you' for some: qa_team.png

Would be interested to read a staff reply to this topic though.

If we provide the release to anyone who is willing to test (as we virtually always do, and will for 4.0 as well), then isn't it already opt in/opt out? If you opt in, you can download and test it. If you don't want to do that, you don't have to. No forms necessary in the client area.

The QA badge I posted is the QA team, these are refreshed and hand picked via upper staff usually for internal testing etc.
